Need To Hear: Haddy N'jie

If you like listening to Nina Simone then this artist comes the closest in her delivery and sound of Nina with her soft ...fluid vocals and delivery that will have you hitting repeat. Haddy's soulful lyrics need no bells and whistles to evoke strong emotions because her music brings them all together harmoniously.

Haddy Jatou N'jie is a Norwegian singer, songwriter, author and journalist. She holds a degree in journalism from the Oslo University College. Haddy began her television career as a news journalist for NRK. She has since expanded to work on a broader field, and is today recognized as an author, journalist, playwright, musician and a singer. As a solo artist, she has released three albums: White Lies, Welcome Home and World of The Free.

Haddy's and members of the group, Queendom which not only represents Norway, but several African and Caribbean countries as well: Ethiopia, Nigeria, Uganda, Trinidad and Gambia.

She has toured the country several times, together with Concerts Norway, and produced several full-night performances with her comedy group Queendom. Check out some of Haddy N'jie's musicand show your love to this wonderful singer by adding her to your music list.

One To Watch: Fatima Siad

My daughters like to hide their magazines from me before I read them and I do the same thing to them when it comes to my favorite magazines. I tossed the Cosmopolitan aside because I know longer read it since every article is rehashed from earlier editions. I found the July issue of Marie Claire and flipped through it and was happy to see Fatima Siad in a six-page fashion editorial and she looks fantastic.

Ever since I saw Fatima on ATM I started calling her "Baby Iman" because she resembles the iconic and uber fabulous Iman to me. I can see her career finally taking off because she certainly has "the look" of the fabulous models of the past and the alluring beauty to boot.

On a personal note, I would have loved to see her on the cover, but we all know that "Models" don't grace the covers of fashion magazines anymore because they've been replaced by what ever entertainer is the most popular at the time and this time it's Taylor Swift.

Now on to the 2010 FIFA World Cup...All I can say is that I wish I was there. I love soccer and this is a sport where everything stops in most of the countries that I've lived in. There is nothing that compares globally to this game and this is a game that brings so many people together regardless of background. After four years of  waiting, the World Cup is finally in South Africa. When I see this happening on the continent, it tells the world that Africa is showing the world it's potential as a world player and this makes me proud.

Sometimes I get so excited about a game, especially when some of my favorite teams are playing that I have to turn to another channel in order not to fall out. Soccer is not as popular as say the NFL because American men look at soccer as being strictly for the kids and for women/girl teams, but this is a serious sport that has yet to catch on here. I've got my thoughts about who will probably win, but I'll wait until the time comes to see who will be in the finals. If you want to see "Eye-Candy" then check out the men who play soccer on a global level.

Solange Knowles New Spirals Look Great!

I admire Solange because she doesn't back down from anyone or anything. People haven't stopped talking about her since she cut her hair off and decided to be "just Solange" and I'm loving Solange's new hairdo which kind of looks like my hair when it's at it fullest.

I loved her short "Fro" also and this style looks even better on her. Rock on Solange with your bad self! BTW, don't sue me for using the photo! Be sure to check out her cool Blog.

Skye Edwards Brings Back The Allure Of Morcheeba

I've found a new artist/group and it was love at first listen for me and I can't get her voice out of my head. I've heard of the group Morcheeba before , but I've never bought anything from them until now. They can count me in as a new fan now. Not only is it her music that sounds so beautiful, Skye is also a beautiful woman and there's nothing more beautiful than a woman that projects confidence.

Here's a little info about Skye: Skye Edwards (born 27 May, 1974 as Shirley Klarise Yonavive Edwards) is a British singer-songwriter, born in East London. Her career began in 1994 when she and the Godfrey brothers formed the band Morcheeba, which released five albums with Skye as lead vocalist. Since exiting the band in 2003, Skye has released two solo albums: Mind How You Go in 2006, and Keeping Secrets in 2009.

Edwards decided to shorten her name to Skye by taking the first letter of each of her names and putting them together. She is married to the bass player Steve Gordon and they have three children. Edwards has sung on two charity collaborations, Perfect Day 1997, in aid of Children in Need and Band Aid 20, in 2004, in aid of famine relief in Sudan,

Paul and Ross Godfrey, Skye which make up the group Morcheeba. 

Their new album, Blood Like Lemonade (which will be released on June 14Th according to Amazon.com), from the trio made up of Skye Edwards and the two brothers, Paul and Ross Godfrey, which reintroduces their fans to what they love most about the group since their Big Calm album. 















Here are a few of their US Tour Dates and I hope they come to New Orleans for a concert and we'll be right there.
