British singer Lianne La Havas has risen up the music charts with her talent, her voice, her beauty and her own sense of style. I love her music and her own bits of quirkiness she exhibits because she reminds me of my own daughter. I love the editorial and I just had to share it if you haven't already seen it.
I've seen most of the September issues of fashion magazines...bleh! Nothing spectacular, except for Janelle's new ad campaign for Cover Girl Cosmetics and I also spotted Solange in an ad in VOGUE'S humongous September issue.
Any way, I was checking out InStyle U.K. which I'm glad I did take a look inside because I saw this gorgeous spread featuring one of my new favorite artists, singer Liane La Havas in a gorgeous pictorial shot by Damon Baker and styled by Natalie Hartley. Liane has had quite a few pictorials as of lately and I couldn't be more prouder of this beautiful songbird.
Britain does have major talent, but for some folks we wouldn't even know it because they never hardly ever write about them because they're too busy chasing several no talent Americans.

Newcomer Grace Lamarr
The British are coming again and I mean literally when it pertains to music, even though it is nothing new because singers from the U.K. have always rocked these shores with their great music and style. Being that America's taste in music is just as diverse as it's people, the U.K. is exporting an influx of new artists to peak our interest.
Here's Grace for the most recent issue of Net-A-Porter Magazine.
Grace Lamarr isn't signed to a label just yet, but she's already attracted the attention of the influential fashion set who often introduce us to what's new and what's now and she'll soon be "It." Even though Adele has been one of the most recent successful artists to come out of the U.K., she isn't the first and nor will she be the last and I hate when many of these up-and-coming artist are labeled with the next "Adele" caption. Just let them be who they are and live up to their own sound and standards and not those of Adele or even those of the late Amy Winehouse.
Her sound is uniquely her own and it reminds me of Ella Fitzgerald in it's clarity and carriage. Whoever signs her please don't destroy her by attempting to box her in as the next anybody and using sex to sell her music because when a woman has a voice just as beautiful as hers then that should be enough. No wonder why American record sales are down in the dumps...everyone is a clone of someone else. Please don't touch her magnificent coils!
"When you don't look like everyone else, you don't sound like them either."
Here's another one that I spotted while at the bookstore yesterday in a one page editorial for the March issue of ELLE UK, the lovely and talented Liane La Havas.
I've found a new artist/group and it was love at first listen for me and I can't get her voice out of my head. I've heard of the group Morcheeba before , but I've never bought anything from them until now. They can count me in as a new fan now. Not only is it her music that sounds so beautiful, Skye is also a beautiful woman and there's nothing more beautiful than a woman that projects confidence.
Here's a little info about Skye: Skye Edwards (born 27 May, 1974 as Shirley Klarise Yonavive Edwards) is a British singer-songwriter, born in East London. Her career began in 1994 when she and the Godfrey brothers formed the band Morcheeba, which released five albums with Skye as lead vocalist. Since exiting the band in 2003, Skye has released two solo albums: Mind How You Go in 2006, and Keeping Secrets in 2009.
Edwards decided to shorten her name to Skye by taking the first letter of each of her names and putting them together. She is married to the bass player Steve Gordon and they have three children. Edwards has sung on two charity collaborations, Perfect Day 1997, in aid of Children in Need and Band Aid 20, in 2004, in aid of famine relief in Sudan,
Paul and Ross Godfrey, Skye which make up the group Morcheeba.
Their new album, Blood Like Lemonade (which will be released on June 14Th according to Amazon.com), from the trio made up of Skye Edwards and the two brothers, Paul and Ross Godfrey, which reintroduces their fans to what they love most about the group since their Big Calm album.
Here are a few of their US Tour Dates and I hope they come to New Orleans for a concert and we'll be right there.
My daughters love to borrow my music all the time to down load it to there Ipods so when I asked one of them could I listen to Corinne Bailey Rae'slatest album, "The Sea," I was amazed by their response.(They must have something of mine since they gave it up so quickly). I loved her first album and now I'm smitten with this one.
If you haven't bought the CD already-I highly recommend it because it's great to see her back on the music scene after what she has gone through, The Seamarks Corinne’s return to music, following the tragic death of her husband Jason two years ago and this album is a testament to him. She's still standing which is a testament to her phenomenal strength and courage. Check out her website for more info about her North American Tour.
