Le Look Du Jour: Actress Lupita Nyong'o For Miu Miu Spring/Summer 2014 Campaign

As I said yesterday: "actress Lupita Nyong'o is on a roll." All I can is to enjoy this attention why you can because folks are fickle, you're hot one moment and then it's on to the next popular or hot thing and then they'll ignore you.

The lovely Lupita has been tapped for the Italian luxury brand, Miu Miu's 2014 Spring/Summer ad-campaign with her peers: Elle Fanning, Elizabeth Olsen and Bela Heathcote. The ad campaign was shot by the uber talented photo team, Inez & Vinoodh.

Costume Institute Gala:The Met Ball

Tomorrow is the Costume Institute's famous Met Ball and I'm sure we all want to see what some of our favorite moguls, celebrities and models will be wearing to this prestigious event. The Work of legendary designer Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada will be celebrated this time at the Met, so expect to see plenty of vintage Schiaparelli gowns or Prada and Miu Miu cocktail dresses.

The Cut Blog has added a list (see at end of post)  of the designers and their dates and if it is like anything like last year some people just might get cut out of photos and ignored. I'd love to see what Beyoncé and Solange Knowles will be wearing this year since they both attended last year.

I vividly remember when top model Jourdan Dunn was famed photographer Mario Testino's date last year and they absolutely cropped her out of photos and didn't highlight her at all.

See her in the background?

Here's another shot of her in the background in her gorgeous Burberry gown. Hopefully it won't happen again, but we all know that it will since everything is based on rank and file or popularity in the media.

Desiree Rogers was also there with her ex-husband John W. Rogers and since she had resigned from the White House there was not one mention of her even attending the event. Anyway, I'm sure Jourdan will be photographed this year possibly dangling on the arm of Jason Wu or some other designer and if it is Jason Wu she can wear one of the gowns that I've highlighted below from his SS 2012 RTW collection.

Jourdan Dunn for Jason Wu Fall 2012 RTW.

My fantasy wish is that she's Jason Wu's date and is wearing something stunning from his SS 2012 RTW Collection. See the beautiful gowns below:

Straight Off The Runway and Onto The Street:Shala Monroque Prada SS 2012

When I saw a photo of a headless woman (on the right) wearing an off-runway look from PRADA'S SS 2012 Collection, I knew it had to be none other than Shala Monroque and after a little searching my guess was confirmed. It was indeed Shala who was photographed after or before the Miu Miu SS 2012 RTW show wearing the above skirt but with a different applique and color. I knew she'd do it before any one else would including the so called fashionable celebrities because she's done it before. I guess it does pay to have Miuccia Prada as a friend.

Eva Mendes May Have Worn Prada...

...just seven weeks after the show was held in Milan, but Shala Monroque wore another look from the Prada Spring/2011 show right after the show was held, in which I wrote about. NY Magazine ran an article on Eva Mendes stating that she was recently seen in Madrid in support of her new movie wearing this dress from the Prada spring 2011 collection .

Here we have Pop Magazines Editor-at-Large, Shala Monroque wearing a skirt and top from the Prada Spring/2011 probably a few days after the show.

I give credit where credit is due and the so called fashion gods do not dictate to me nor do I believe that they start any trends because it's the "runways" of the streets that start the trends. The men and women without the designer clothes budgets, but with a innate style all their own start and end all fashion trends.

Remember, it's only sheep who follow everyone else and let others define who they are and what they should look like, not leaders. Some folks what us to believe that it's strictly them who can say who has style, who doesn't or who's worthy of being emulated...sorry, but I don't buy into that nonsense.

Prada 2010 Fall/Winter Collection Is Pure 50's Optimism

After viewing the Prada 2010 Fall/Winter show I can honestly say that now I see why Shala is so loyal to the brand. I guess we all wish for those days when life was so easy and the world was not racked with problems.

Being that fashion is sometimes all about the illusion- a trip to mometarily fantasy- then this is what Miuccia Prada gave us- optimism of the good old days. I like quirky and I like to be different and this collection was both, with a bit of whimsy thrown in for fun.

I didn't care that much for the dresses which seemed to give the illusion of  cones for breast, but I do like this collection, especially the printed coats.

I love the way the whole show gave everyone in the audience an up close and personal view of the models as they walked the runway. I couldn't take my eyes off of the screen as they paraded around in the collection.
"She's wearing those cat-eye glasses now check out Prada's"

"Check out Prada's version of the cat-eye glasses"
I used to ask my Grandmother could I have a pair of her "cat-eye glasses because I always loved vintage chic. Prada even introduced her own version of the new and improved cat-eye glasses for the 21st Century. I could just imagine the looks and stares that I'd receive.

"Check them out in red"
'I want a pair in Black"

Some may have called the collection "Grandma Chic," this collection can be worn by women of all ages. Miuccia Prada heavily borrowed from the 50's boys bomber jackets layered with what looked like fur collars and vinyl and then paired the looks with a added touch of feminism.

As they say that fashion oftentimes repeats itself, she is certainly paying homage to a by-gone era keen on what looked liked patent leather or well made vinyl full A-Line skirts which hit below the knees accompanied with bomber jackets for "us girls" to wear. There's nothing wrong with borrowing from your Grandma just add your own twist to it.

Check out the fashion show for yourselves.
