VOGUE ITALIA FEBRUARY 2014: ACTRESS LUPITA NYONG'O BY TOM MUNRO

All I know is that Essence better have one hell of a editorial featuring Lupita Nyong'o in their March 2014 issue because she is 'killin it' in this issue of VOGUE ITALIA. The woman exudes confidence in every photograph that she takes and it shows. Tom Munro captured this Kenyan beauty just right and the fabulous Patti Wilson who is known to be a little avant garde, styled Lupita just right in clothing that doesn't over power her, but lets her individuality shine through on this shoot. It's great when you can just go to Zinio and buy what you want to and sometimes I just buy the magazines for their editorials which might feature my favorite models or celebrities. Enjoy!

Inspiration: Emulating Yves

Images of YSL's 1967 "African Collection" and
Marchesa's dress is from their 2010 Resort Collection
features striking similarities of Yve's collection.
The dress that Henrieth is wearing is by Gucci.

When I first saw this editorial of Henrieth Paul for the January issue of VOGUE Italia photograph by none other than Steven Meisel. I was in awe especially of the way the editorial pays a visit to a bygone era that many of us don't get to see anymore. That of a customer in a designers atelier being fitted for Haute Couture by the designer, his assistants or a group of "petite mains." Elegantly clad models parading in front of potential customers holding placards of the desired garments as the buyers sit in elegant Chiavari chairs inside a chic salon...crystal chandeliers complete that added elegance and ambiance.

HAUTE GELE

"This Beauty Should Be On Your Walls"

"The December Issue of VOGUE Gioiello Goes "Haute" Gele in this Editorial"

I LOVE IT!

Facts: The "Gele" is a Yoruba {Nigeria, West Africa} word for a female head-wrap. A "head-wrap" is a long piece of cloth that you tie and tuck on your head to create this magnificent creation of beauty!

Note: It's nice to share. If you're going to use my photos at least have the decency to link back...Thanks a zillion!

Ajak (Angelique) Deng Sparkles On the Cover of Vogue Gioiello

"Sudanese born Australian "Super Model" in the making, Ajak Deng"

Ajak Deng is making her mark on the modeling world quickly following in the foot steps of several African born fashion models especially her idol, Alek Wek. Making the cover of a top fashion magazine is a milestone for many models and it's great to see her beautiful face on the front of the Sep/Oct issue of Vogue Italia's Gioiello supplement. Ajak is one of several women who has been chosen for the 30th Anniversary issue of VOGUE GIOIELLO and she's definitely sparkling in Van Cleef  and Arpels beautiful ruby and diamond encrusted jewelry that's she's wearing.

Vogue Italia Hits The Web

The Opening page of VOGUE Italia's VOGUE BLACK

Leave it to the international editions of magazines to be the first when it comes to showing diversity, too bad their American counterparts have yet to be so courageous when it comes to inclusion. Fashionistas everywhere can now get a daily dose of Italian and European style and also visit a section of Vogue Italia solely dedicated to models of color, writers, artist and so on and even Vogue Curvy.

Thanks, Shala for these delicious morsels of style bites. Thanks are definitely in order for Franca Sozzani, the Editor of Vogue Italia who gave us one of ( probably) the best selling issues(The Black Issue) in Vogue Italia's publishing history and shows us the love!

Maybe she can teach you know who a thing or two when it comes to selling magazines and let her know that style and fashion is global and is accessible to everyone and having a woman of African heritage, Hispanic, or Asian woman on an American VOGUE cover can and will sell magazines! Style is not meant to offend, only an ignorant individual would think so!
