The Classics: The White Suit

Never mind what the fashion gods and goddesses say about what's in and what's out because some things are just classics that will never, never go out of style. The white suit is a classic that will always be in style and it's perfect for women of all shapes and sizes. I like linen and cotton for the summer and wool blends for the winter in off-white or cream. The shorts-suit (below) by Ralph Lauren is super cute too. Choose your accessories wisely, just be sure to bring the wow factor!

Defining Fabulous: Joyce "Baby Jean" Kennedy of Mother's Finest

What do you get when you cross Funk with Rock & Roll? You get Mother's Finest. While trying to decide what to do with my huge album collection, I came across their album, 'Mother Factor' and wondered what had happened to the them. I gave the internet surf and it appears that they are still rocking and rolling to fans all over the world who still support them.

When we close our minds to experience different things in life, we miss out on everything. While growing up I had so many experiences that shaped who I am and I hardly ever excluded anything from it, to include listening to Rock music. Whatever music that was created, we listened to it. 

Mother's Finest is one of those groups that was greatly under appreciated by a lot of people, but is greatly appreciated by true music lovers who don't look at outward appearances.

Joyce Kennedy is the lead singer of this group which hails from Atlanta, GA and she's still as beautiful as ever. Ask any man over 40 if they remember Joyce Kennedy. I'm sure they will and I'm sure they had one of her album covers on their walls. She may be a little older now but she still rocks and has the voice that can still hold a note.

While looking through the August issue of VOGUE I came across this editorial featuring Margherita Missoni and as I read on I noticed that most of the pieces that were featured were from her families upcoming line for TARGET. (Slick move VOGUE) There were rugs, linen, tableware and even a bike that costs $400.00 in the editorial.

Le Look Du Jour: Lizz Wright for Garden & Gun Magazine

The beautiful and talented Lizz Wright looks like a breath of fresh air on the latest cover of Garden and Gun magazine. My fab daughter told me about the cover and I had to seek it out for myself. Lizz Wright doesn't get written about much among some circles, but I've been a fan of hers ever since she hit the airwaves. That's cool because she is quite well known all over the world among the sophisticated Jazz-set who love her and heap praise upon her.

What makes me happy today is finding my favorite artist, Esperanza Spalding in the latest issue of Elle magazine. I tried to take a few photos with my phone and instead figured I might as well buy the magazine just for featuring her in it. Esperanza looks gorgeous and her Afro is to die for.
