Need To Hear: Josephine Oniyama
Looking for something worth listening to instead of whats on the radio these days? Something original? Well, let me introduce you to Manchester, England based singer Josephine Oniyama. Josephine is not a "Pop Tart" as are most of the singers out there today, she sings from the soul and that's what we need to hear more of these days. Josephine's new album "Portrait" will be released on 16 Oct 12 on iTunes and amazon.com, singles are available now.
What we need more of are lyrics with a message, with feeling and song along with beautiful music. Hopefully this beautiful woman won't get obscured by the over hyped singers out today who don't have any real talent, but just the right look and a gimmick.
To learn about Josephine Oniyama click here and here. Follow her on You Tube.

One To Watch: Singer Grace Lamarr aka Grace McKeown
Newcomer Grace Lamarr
The British are coming again and I mean literally when it pertains to music, even though it is nothing new because singers from the U.K. have always rocked these shores with their great music and style. Being that America's taste in music is just as diverse as it's people, the U.K. is exporting an influx of new artists to peak our interest.
Here's Grace for the most recent issue of Net-A-Porter Magazine.
Grace Lamarr isn't signed to a label just yet, but she's already attracted the attention of the influential fashion set who often introduce us to what's new and what's now and she'll soon be "It." Even though Adele has been one of the most recent successful artists to come out of the U.K., she isn't the first and nor will she be the last and I hate when many of these up-and-coming artist are labeled with the next "Adele" caption. Just let them be who they are and live up to their own sound and standards and not those of Adele or even those of the late Amy Winehouse.
Her sound is uniquely her own and it reminds me of Ella Fitzgerald in it's clarity and carriage. Whoever signs her please don't destroy her by attempting to box her in as the next anybody and using sex to sell her music because when a woman has a voice just as beautiful as hers then that should be enough. No wonder why American record sales are down in the dumps...everyone is a clone of someone else. Please don't touch her magnificent coils!
"When you don't look like everyone else, you don't sound like them either."
Check out her Facebook page for new updates.

What's Haute Now: Singer Karyn White!!!
The Music Gods must be listening to our weary ears because I found out this morning that one my favorites, the beautiful Miss Karyn White will be returning back to the airways after an 18 year hiatus! Hallelujah and Amen!
Karyn's latest CD will be titled "Carpe Diem" and I can say it will definitely sieze the airways because they have been hijacked with noise. The better singers don't get played, they only get ignored!
Check out her latest video below:
Follow Karyn White on FACEBOOK for future release dates and concerts.

A Fashionable Life: ESTELLE
London born singer, Estelle is having an incredible year thus far with a new single being released and a new album that will be dropping sometime this year, she's been busier than ever. What I and I'm sure many others have been noticing is her ever evolving style.
The London girl-about-town has been seen in all the right places looking chic and sophisticated as ever, nothing about her look says contrived and I love that about her. It doesn't matter whether she's rocking bold platforms or the latest trends in statement making pops of color, Estelle

Who's Got Style: Lindiwe Suttle
For those of us who truly love women from all walks of life, especially those who put the 'S' in style, one can add Lindiwe Suttle to the mix. I've been a fan of her Mom's ever since I first saw her on an episode of Oprah, so we know where she gets her sense of style from and Lindiwe is a beautiful style icon in her own right. Lindiwe has the basic elements of real style: intelligence, charisma, talent, an array of impressive accomplishments and to top it all off, total individuality. Lindiwe is also the face of Woolworth's beauty campaign, "Come Together." Lindiwe, like other stylish women around the world are proving to be the embodiment of international style worth taking notes from. Check out her latest video from her new CD, "Man Made Moon." Need To Hear: Timothy Bloom and V. Bozeman
You'd have to be living under a rock and not hear about this song that's burning up the airways and You Tube by composer, producer and now R&B star, Timothy Bloom featuring singer and a star in her own right, V. Bozeman. Til the End of Time is a love song to the fifth power which has created it's own controversy because some folks get a little uncomfortable when they see two naked brown bodies displayed for all the world to see. Beautiful song and two beautiful people, gotta love this!
