And the Winner Is..... Miss Angola Leila Lopes!

Miss Angola Leila Lopes
My house was all screams when it came down to the last two contestants in the Miss Universe pageant. I glanced at the television in the other room and went back to my room because I was tense just for those few minutes and when the screaming got louder, I knew by now that Miss Angola had won.

Tika Sumpter, Rutina Wesley and Naturi Naughton for ESSENCE Magazine

I can't believe my October issue ESSENCE Magazine arrived earlier than usual. Not only is the cover of Mrs. Obama beautiful, but the editorial featuring Tika Sumpter, Rutina Wesley and Naturi Naughton in a Super Fly editorial is fantabulous! The editorial was shot by Tim Peterson and styled by the uber stylish Agnes Cammock.

Joan Smalls for ELLE UK

I've been waiting for a while for one of my favorite models to grace a few of the more popular fashion magazines and it seems that I got my wish. Kudos to Joan for her ELLE cover. I wonder when the American versions of ELLE, VOGUE and the other so called fashion magazines are going to do the same??? Celebrity covers of the same three or four celebrities don't compel me to subscribe to nor buy their magazines any more.

Thandie Newton For Louis Vuitton's Double Exposure Series

I'm loving the vintage feel of these photos of Thandie Newton for Louis Vuitton's Double Exposure series because they look just like many of the photos that we have in our homes of our ancestors. The project, which debuted with artist Sam Taylor Wood earlier this year, creates two "portraits" of the sitter: one a literal portrait, using a 19th Century photographic technique called the collodion wet plate process; and the other a portrait of the subject's inner self, in a film where the sitter reveals their most treasured possessions and the story behind them.
