As a lover of all things beautiful and also controversial, one can not but truly admire the beauty and courage of artist and activist Renee Cox. Renee is another one of those artist that loves to push her audiences buttons and to inspire them with her thought provoking works of art. She presents the truth which oftentimes is hard for many people to handle even though they're in a perpetual state of denial. To learn more about this magnificent woman click here.

Below are some of my favorites:

Preserving Our Image: Photographer Matthew Jordan Smith

Matthew Jordan Smith's beautiful photo of actors Courtney B. Vance and Angela Bassett
along with their adorable and precious children.

I've been an admirer of Matthew Jordan Smith's photography ever since I saw his work in various Essence Magazines and other publications over the years. I consider Matthew an innovator of sorts when it comes to presenting the best of our imagery especially when it comes to depicting our beauty and so far he's never missed a beat.

My father was a photographer, so he introduced me to the world of art and beauty and I'm a woman who rarely leaves home without my trusted CASIO EXILIM and my companion Blackberry, because one never knows what beauty they may encounter. I've got my two CANNON Cameras, but I save them when I want to do my best work. The Casio is small and compact and fits easily into my handbag. Matthew has a blog dedicated to photography and believes in reaching back by teaching us the various tricks of the trade. Be sure to follow him and learn from one of the best photographers in the world.
