TWO LOOKS FROM CHANEL'S 'THE LITTLE BLACK JACKET' EXHIBITION

Two of my favorite looks from CHANEL'S THE LITTLE BLACK JACKET exhibition. I'm loving Akuol De Mabior's look with her beautiful head wrap and Ayo's photo. Their photos are some of the ones being featured in Karl Lagerfeld's new book "The Little Black Jacket: Chanel's Classic Revisited" which comes out this fall and will feature over 100 people wearing the iconic jacket.
Akuol Rocks!

SOLANGE KNOWLES IS AFRO SENSATIONAL FOR TIME OUT NEW YORK

Ka-Bloom!!
I really admire women who don’t allow folks to put them into boxes.
Film out-takes by Jolie Ruben

What a way to start the day and see Solange in all her ferosh-ness on my Tumblr page for Time Out New York in the perfect colors and fashion inspiration for Spring. Solange had been on a roll way before she was signed to NEXT Modeling agency because she is a favorite of women in the Natural Hair community before the mainstream fashion industry noticed her, either way, she simply rocks. I wonder what are ESSENCE, EBONY and the other so called niche magazines waiting on when it comes to a cover and editorial featuring her??? Be sure to check out Solange's inspirational blog which updates her style and her journey through life and it's peoples.

Rock Worthy: Tata-Naka

While scrolling through ELLE UK'S  website for a little inspiration I came across the designs of Tata-Naka which literally took my breath away. I don't know if it was the gorgeous Afro's or the gorgeous colors of the fabric used to create this stunning collection, all I know is that I was in awe of what I saw!

Tata-Naka is owned by the Georgian-born British twin sisters – Tamara and Natasha Surguladze, in memory of their collective childhood nickname. The sisters moved to London in 1996 and are graduates of Central St. Martin.

Fros We Love: The Super Talented Esperanza Spalding for VOGUE March 2012

"It Girl"
I guess one can say we can see a few of the editorials before the magazines hit the stores or folks mailboxes, but there's nothing like flipping through a magazine or reading it on your technological gadget of choice. I literally screamed when I saw Esperanza's spread in the latest issue of my daughters VOGUE.  Thanks fab daughter for letting me borrow it and snap these photos with my trusted Blackberry. I'm not tearing up my magazines or anyone else's to scan them.

Radio Music Society
Be sure to purchase her latest musical offering, you'll be glad you did.

Le Look Du Jour: Actress Adepero Oduye in MARCHESA

Actress Adepero Oduye attended the MARCHESA 2012 F/W RTW Show during the recently held NYFW and wearing this Marchesa embellished and belted dress.
Adepero Oduye - Marchesa - Front Row - Fall 2012 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week
Front-row beauty along with Jenna Dewan Tatum.

Who can resist the lovely confections that Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig dream up every season.

Top Model Jasmine Tookes looks lovely in MARCHESA but these boots are the star of the show!

I'm only serving up two looks from their 2012 F/W R-T-W show and these boots of giving me serious withdrawal symptoms! Dayum, they're gorgeous!

Le Look Du Jour: Yaya DaCosta

Why try to fit in when  you can stand out in your own unique beauty and an eye-catching color!

Another one of my favorites when it comes to personal style is Yaya DaCosta. To me Yaya is the epitome of a woman who exudes confidence and an innate beauty that compliments any thing that she wears. Long before the so called turban trend became le style she was already wearing them. It doesn't matter whether she's rocking her massive Afro, a pouf of coils and ringlets or even her colorful head wraps, Yaya DaCosta simply rocks!

What's Haute Now: Urban Expressions Accessories

I want this bag to replace the one that I bought thirty years ago at a bargain before inflation hit and was stolen.

But I love these two beauties. The bags are certified vegan and PETA approved.

I'm always on the hunt for something chic and classic that doesn't cost me an arm or a leg and is well made and affordable. My children have been asking me what I wanted for Christmas and I've been repeating the same old thing. "I want a CHANEL 2.55 bag for Christmas." Imagine the number of side-eyes I kept receiving with that comment.

After much prodding and pleading, I told my girls to get me whatever they thought I liked and I'll take care of the bag issue. We hit up our local MARSHALL'S to see what goodies they had and lo and behold I found the perfect bag's. I've never heard of URBAN EXPRESSIONS before but I wish that I could have every color they had in the store. I saw two that I really liked and couldn't make up my mind which one I wanted, so I bought them both. Urban Expressions is also available at most boutiques and stores in your areas and the following web retailers: ebags.com, baghaus.com and hautelook.com

Whether you’re looking to treat yourself or are searching for the perfect birthday gift for a friend, these stores like MARSHALL'S, ROSS, T.J. MAXX, etc. have the ultimate deals and steals if your looking for chic dresses and so much more.

I know where to go to get the best bargains to save money. What are some of your best-kept shopping secrets?
